seth's easter basket

I'm so excited for my sweet nephew Seth to see his Easter basket Sunday morning! He's staying on with me for the week after Easter for his Spring Break. I can't tell you how thrilled I am about that. I'll be sure to post about our adventures next week.

I packed his basket with lots of fun things I know he'll really dig. Candy, well, of course. Each little camouflage egg has a little treat in it. Reece's peanut butter eggs are a must. And I really love Snickers eggs too. I hope he shares!

No Easter basket, in my opinion, is complete without a little stuffed bunny. This one was the pick of the litter at Target. But, unfortunately, she donned a pink ribbon with a rosette. I replaced it with a little of my favorite vintage French silk ribbon in the prettiest of blues, which just happens to be Seth's favorite color.

I found a bag of jungle animals and trees with a playmat at Walmart. I think it was some insanely cheap price like $1.88! Some other things I'm excited for him to find are a jar of marbles, a dinosaur egg to excavate a treasure from, National Geographic cards with famous world monuments, and polka dot sidewalk chalk. I always had a pack of construction paper in my Easter basket so I put that in his too. And I think I told you this last year, but when I was little I found a peso at the bottom of my Easter basket. It was a strange little mystery in my young life. A secret between me and the Easter bunny. So I put a little foreign coin in the bottom of his. I wonder if he'll find it.

Oh, and the fringe across the handle? I tore strips of a fun and funky fabric and tied them all along it. It was actually quickly done and made this plain basket something special.

Happy Easter to all of you who celebrate! To everyone else, Happy Spring!

Wonderful! I'm sure he's never going to want to leave! It's so sweet to see how you make his little world so magical when he's with you! I have a sweet nephew also and one day he asked me, "Aunt Heather, have you ever been to a place that you never want to leave?" He was speaking about my house! Makes my heart melt to this day just thinking about it. I'm sure Seth feels the same!

Lovely, lovely basket!

I have a kind of but not related story to your peso. It is something Mexican (is that awful?) And...it involves a basket...Anyway, a Mexican restaurant we frequented when I was young served a giant basket of fresh, hot tortilla chips. At the bottom of the basket were carmels wrapped in wax paper. By the time you got to them they had reached the perfect stage of meltiness (not too much - just right). It was such an unexpected surprise! My parents know which restaurant I am referring to, but they do not remember the carmels. That little detail was not memorable to them I suppose.

I know Seth will find the Easter bunny's hidden surprise. Kids are much more attuned to such things!

I'm new to your site, but have loved reading each new post. Such pretty ideas! I love your nephew's Easter basket, especially the torn fabric scraps tied onto the handle. How creative and fun! I think he'll really enjoy it! I better get going on my daughter's basket.

Love the basket!

Guess what I got for my birthday from my daughter Kelli? (she orders quite a bit from you I think) I got one of the charm bracelets!!!! I love it! I think I've already worn it a dozen times.Do you remember when my daughters and I visited and I said how much I coveted them? I guess she was listening. :)

I have something I want to send you and would like to show a picture of my granddaughter playing with the barn and farm set I bought while there. How would I do that?

We had so much fun at your shop. We can't wait to do it again.

Amy, your nephew is going to LOVE this basket. Easter Baskets are a sore subject in my house right now. I have a tendency to "over indulge" the kids with their baskets for McHubby said he was doing the honors this year. When I saw his receipt from Target I was not a happy camper. I have never seen a stingier Easter bunny. But this is his year so let him see how frugel his baskets will appear! Okay, I have a confession, I have a little stash of my own that will supplement his dismal offerings but he doesn't know yet. He won't be happy...

Happy Easter, Amy~
I loved your ideas here. Thanks, as always for sharing them with us. Also, please know that I was thinking of your family as they marked this holiday without their beloved, Danielle. I'm sure it was difficult, and I know from my own experience, that simply the changing of seasons is always difficult since the death of my own little girl. It's just an emotional part of grieving that we must now deal with as we journey through life. Time moves on and our hearts long to hold our memories close. SO, hope yo had a wonderful Easter. Warm thoughts and a special prayer were said for Danielle's family. I hope they are finding bits of joy in life, despite their pain and loss. All my care~
