vacation project....

I took along a project to work on through vacation...quiet afternoons while Alfredo napped...

And this proved to be the very best vacation kind of project. It is a kit from Charlotte Lyons. I love it so much. I couldn't stop so I added a bit of my own to the design.
Isn't it sweet?

ahhhh...

We're back from vacation. I don't have a single picture to share...didn't even take my camera out. But we did a lot of relaxing and playing and eating and having fun.

Today we're just having fun getting back into the swing of our lives...Alfredo is so happy to see his toys again. And me? I'm exhausted. Isn't a vacation supposed to refresh you?

Chloe and Sebastiaan's wedding

I love this photo so much...on one side, the sweet love of the bride and groom and on the other, the love of my friends Lorraine and Joel for their daughter and new husband. So sweet.

The wedding was amazing. Our friend Tiffany took pictures and I can't wait to see how they turned out.

The hearts took a while to put up...about 2 hours...and I wasn't able to do them exactly as I'd planned because of the way the doors opened...but I still think they looked pretty. And the tree was really wonderful, although maybe just a bit on the small side. If I were doing it again, I'd make the whole thing a bit bigger. Tiffany said she'd share pictures of these to show you.

We're getting ready to head out to the beach next week for a vacation with my family. And you won't believe what I have up my sleeve. 17 snack trays! Yes, indeedy. I'm certifiably insane.

crayons!

Look what we won!

So much fun!

We're practicing our letters...the cone shape is just right for his chubby little hands.

He loves them!

Wendy donated them to Crystal's quilt raffle and my name was picked to win them. Find these and other designs here.

wedding tree

The crystals finally arrived and I draped them on the tree...it looks so lovely. Wouldn't a tree like this be fun to decorate for each season? I can totally see it spooked up for Halloween and loved up for Valentine's day...can't you?

Oh, and look....the hearts have taken over...

something lovely and new

I bought this, mural size, for my bedroom. (from here) I was so excited about how cheery it would make the otherwise fairly neglected room look.

BUT

When I took it out and set my eyes on it for the first time, I knew it really needed to go here...

It just makes everything look so much happier in that already extremely happy room.

Also, I'm loving how the hearts (for Chloe's wedding) are looking in my bay window...

Pity you can't really tell how lovely they are from the picture....

wedding tree

I'm working on another project for Chloe's wedding...it's a wedding tree. I was expecting a shipment of crystals to arrive today but I got another customer's package instead. The company is rushing me the right package and then I can work on glitzing it up. But for now, here it is....pretty just like this, I think.

I used 4 branches of manzanita from here. I bought the ones that were painted silver but this will work with the natural ones too. I arranged the branches and then used wire to fix them together. I stuffed paper into the urn to hold the arrangement in place and then I poured plaster of paris in to set it.

While I wait for my shipment of shiny crystals to arrive, I'm working on tags that guests will fill out and put on the tree. The tags say "Chloe and Sebastiaan are..." and the instructions will say to fill in the cards using 5 words or less.

I pre-printed in Tiffany blue the "Chloe and Sebastiaan are..." bit on each of the cards. Now I'm adding an edge of metallic silver to the cards using a metallic silver paint pen.

The results are magnificent...

As you can see, I have a lot more to go.

hearts on a string...

I'm helping my friend Lorraine with a couple of decorations for her daughter's upcoming wedding.

We saw this and were inspired...

I got busy and started making something similar...

I've made 20 so far but my goal is to make 60 strands! That's a lot of cutting and stringing of hearts. Maybe I need to revise that...
