a tour of an artist's home

Last night, I went to my friend Amy Walton's open house/art showing at her home. Before everyone arrived, I shot these photos so that I could share with you the beauty of her home.

Look at this beautiful mural in her powder room:

The following photos are of Amy's studio space located above her detached garage. It is such a wonderful space. She bought the worktable from my friends at the cottage. The tabletop is made from old bleacher seats.

Note the floors, which are made from plyboard cut into wide planks. The wood was first painted chocolate brown and then robin's egg blue. This was Amy's low-cost alternative to the wide-planked antique flooring throughout her home.

OH my Gosh. That is quite possibly one of the most beautiful homes that I've seen. The details! And, the kitchen! I think that I'm going to print some of your photos for my inspiration file. Thanks so much for sharing!

WOW! What a stunning home...so pretty! NOT 'stuffy' feeling like so many 'purtified' houses. After I catch my breath...I'm running to get my bucket, Pinesol and furniture polish! Maybe if I make the house sparkley clean I'll see things differently...Well, if not prettier, at least cleaner :)

I'll be returning to this post many MANY times...thanks for sharing!!

What a lovely house it is indeed! Does her glass kitchen cabinets have back lighting in them? They sure to seem to have a soft yellow glow about, nice touch.

Hi again, I just love Amys house. I was wondering if I could have a larger shot of the Kitchen to show my Husband? We are thinking of re-doing our kitchen at some point and I find this one really inspiring...

There is nothing about your friend's home that I don't love. I wonder if she would share the color of the paint used in her studio. I'm looking for something just like it for my studio!

Beatiful home, and I am jealous of the spacious, light-filled studio. Ann and I are so cramped for space, and after 3pm. it is so dim in our studio we can hardly work. I envy her space and light!
