five and dime wanderlust

I found these old photos of store displays on the Internet last night. Tell me, don't you crave to see them in color? And wouldn't you love to walk into Woolworth's of yesterday and shop at those prices, all of those wonderful buttons and notions and other delights? I do think if I had a time machine, that's what I'd do. I would transport myself to a Woolworth of yesterday.

I found these images here.

I have, for years, longed to go to the garment district in NY, because in my little brain, I am convinced I will still find some places that have displays like this, with reallly old stuff. If I do find a store like that, I will just want to move in, and rummage in their old stockroom, for long, lost, forgotten treasures.

Oh what fun photos! Amy, I would beam myself right along with you if I could! Wouldn't that be fun?!

Just the other day, a friend and I were talking about some of our favorite old five and dimes, and about how much fun we used to have in them, especially as kids. They were a great place for spending our babysitting money, and we'd have milkshakes at the counters with our friends.
All of your preparations for the Bella event are looking wonderful Amy,

They used to have on in Savannah a few years ago (the early 90's) and it was heaven! I wish I had pictures because it was a southern paradise.
