today

On this day last year, we packed up our little baby and flew with him to California. Isn't it incredible to think that it's been a year? And just look at where we are now. If you'd told me last year that this is where we'd be, with him here and everything so happy, I would have told you off or something. He's waking up from his nap...I can hear him making little noises over the monitor and any minute he'll come sweetly down the hallway looking for me or call for me quietly from his bed. Oh, here he is. All smiles and saying "It's morningtime!" I love this life.

Amy,
I was watching the whole thing from afar...long lurking in your delightful blog and feeling so incredibly, impossibly sad for you. I had this happen to two friends. Both got their babies back...and they are now seniors in college. I also had a late-term loss of twin sons and know the agony of loosing a child.

I continue to pray that all works out well. As someone said in the last entry, you are such a wonderful mother and the care you give him is helping him blossom into that secure, buoyant little boy.

amy! there's an entire blogosphere out here rooting for you and loving alfredo! i pray that this becomes your reality forever! karen p.s. do you have a nickname for alfredo? i can't help but nickname anyone or anything that crosses my path! i would probably nickname him "cheeney." (derived from fettuccini alfredo of course!)

I, too, have watched your journey from afar. Alfredo is a very blessed little boy to have you in his life to love and protect him. I shed tears when you had to let him go and now I am filled with joy that he is back in your loving arms.

Amy, yours is first post I've read this morning. What a wonderful way to start the day. I couldn't be happier for you and your family. Alfredo is blossoming and thriving.

I am struck by how a seemingly heartbreaking situation can turn around in a heartbeat.

What they said. When you took him back last year, and then after, your heartbreak was so evident, and heartbreaking to me. And them he came back. I hope that doesn't ever have to change.

I started reading your blog about the time you were heart-broken over the little guy leaving and now it brings me such joy to hear how happy your family is with the cutest little man in your lives! Those precious long black eyelashes, the songs he sings, he is a wonderful gift from God into your lives. We were created to love and bless you for giving so much of it!

I've been meaning to tell you for a while now that as I follow your chapter of this great part of life for you, it reminds me so much of my childhood. I was an adopted child of a different nationality to my American parents, and although my birth family will always hold a very special place in my heart, as will the family who loved and nurtured me as I grew up. You are doing wonderfully with him, and I'm sure he knows and feels your love and it will mold him into an incredible person. Thank God for people such as you and your husband...

I've so enjoyed following along with your joy, and even your struggles.

Many blessing over and over to you and your loved ones.
