sad news

Seth's cousin Danielle was in an accident on Sunday. She was a passenger on an ATV which struck a tree. She was air-lifted to the hospital where they determined that she had suffered extreme brain damage. Sadly, she died yesterday. She was only 13 years old.

Danielle was the daughter of my brother's wife's sister. I saw her just before Thanksgiving at Seth's birthday party and I was so struck by her loveliness. She was so sweet and happy, smiley and easy to talk to. She was having so much fun playing with Maggie and holding baby Shelby.

Thoughts and memories of her are weighing heavy on my mind today. I'm thinking too of her family. It is so tragic. And it happened so quickly.

As usual I am behind on blogs and I am so saddened to read this news of a young life lost so needlessly. Its a shame how many young people are lost on these types of vehicles. My heart goes out to you and her family and will pray for peace for you all.

I'm so sad to hear this--such a tragedy, esp. for someone so young. We have a friend, only 24, who was also injured a few months ago in an ATV accident, in Mexico no less (we live on the border). He miraculously survived a head injury even after the 4 hrs. it took to get him across the border which didn't happen until they had paid a $100 bribe the the Mexican hospital doctors--anyway, he is now regaining some functioning, but no one knows how much he will progress. And his wife found out she was pregnant with twins the day after the accident. I guess those things can be more dangerous than we realize.
