field trip

If you live anywhere near the metro DC area, you really must find a way to get to the newly opened Newberry's just as quick as you can. It is such a feast for the eyes and is so unlike any store you've ever been visited...I promise it'll be worth the trip.

It is in Brunswick, Maryland (which feels like worlds away but is only about 20 minutes from Leesburg, VA!)

There were three things that prevented me from taking better pictures...1. I had Baby in a stroller and there were spaces too tight and too many people for me to maneuver. 2. If I moved too far from Baby, he panicked and screamed bloody murder. 3. I was overwhelmed and overloaded and my eyes just couldn't adjust, nor could my mind take it all in.

While you're in the area, be sure to stop by the cottage at its new location at 105 S. King Street.

I'm new to the area and had no idea I was so close! I saw the pictures you posted the other day of the cottage and I was admiring some of the pretty beds and wishing it were a little closer! And it is!! Thanks, Amy. I can't wait to go visit these two places.

What wonderful eye candy!

And in unrelated news - here is a picture of my daughter in the hat I bought from your shop! We love it and everyone who sees it adores it. :o)

Oh my...they do have the best of the best, don't they. No wonder you were overwhelmed. Btw...thank you for your new magazine feature. Tammy Gilley - very clever lady and fits right in with your wonderful blog and website. I always enjoy your revamps - they are a pleasure to the eye.

Amy, I am sitting here not only smiling at the gorgeous photos you shared with us, but at the fact that my mind went a whole different direction with this:

When you said 'Newberry's new store', I thought you meant a new store that was a reproduction of the old Newberry's dime stores!!!
I was picturing the soda fountain, the penny candy, the vast array of amazing old-time merchandise...

Then I saw the first photo and laughed! I really AM getting old.....

Amy,

How exciting--your new website and magazine. LOVE IT!!! I have been so crazy busy with my shop. I feel as if I have been out of touch with the world.
Thanks for sharing the new look of the cottage--I am pining to get out to Leesburg. It looks fabulous. I do hope you will be selling your darling creations there. I always found inspiration in your sweet little spot in the cottage. And--well I don't live that far from Brunswick- so I will have to check out Newberry's fabulous new shop. The pictures speak for themselves!!!
hugs and giggles,

Maria
because every day is a Tiara Day

Just as my son is talking to me about the ROTC trip I am chaperoning to DC, I am reading this posting. I said, "Do you think I can get away to go to this shop?" That would be great, but I know it won't happen. So close, and yet impossible. I've never spent a lot of time in DC, and I'd much rather be shopping and sightseeing than corralling kids, but, there you go...
