fishbowl

Alfredo got this fish for his birthday way back in January. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea because, well, what if he didn't live long. Fish don't typically live very long, right? That's been my experience.

I've done my best, feeding and changing water rather regularly. Lo and behold, here we are nine months later and he's doing great.

I decided to move him on up to the East side, in a deluxe apartment in the skyyyyyYy.

He moved out of his ugly uninspired plastic bowl into this very lovely glass fishbowl. I think he likes it. In a couple of weeks, his new friends Snail One and Snail Two will move in too. They need some algae growth first.

For now, he seems to be digging his happy new home.

What's our fish's name? If you can guess, you'll get a gift.

p.s. Lots of interest in the skirt I was wearing a couple of posts ago. To be honest, I'm wearing that same skirt pretty much continuously these days. It's from Matilda Jane...I'm totally in love with this company. I'm hoping my friends at the cottage will host a trunk show.

I had two thoughts Birthday or Turtle, just came to mind at the moment. My son had a beta fish Barney that lived a couple years and broke our hearts when he left.

Dr. Suess? I just want to warn you that if you get the snails, you may end up with mannnnnny snails! We got a couple for my kids fish bowl when they were little and ended up being over-run by snails...the pet store later told me that even with one snail that can happen. Very cute bowl!

My Dad got me 2 goldfish when I was younger: Jack and Jill. (I was creative.) Jack died the first day, which was unfortunate but a good teaching point for life.) Jill, the trooper goldfish she was, actually lived 8 years. We credit that to the fact that she went from bowl in kitchen to pond in the backyard not long after her arrival.

I'll keep Alfredo's fish in my well wishes health wise. ;)

We have one at our house named "Fishie" so I am guessing it's name is FISHY. Peter chose the latter spelling.

Hmmm, is the dear little fish named Bubbles?

When I saw this post, I thought of one of my favorite little rhyming songs for children. One of the verses goes:

"I've a pair of fishes, fishes. They are washing dishes, dishes. This is indeed a wonder. See the fishes washing dishes. This is quite a wonder. This is a quite a wonder!" (There are also foxes in boxes, kittens wearing mittens, bunnies reading the funnies, and parrots eating carrots. Love it!)

My brother in law received a goldfish in a plastic bag as a prize at the county fair many years ago. To make a long story short, that little goldfish in a bag lived for about 9 years and grew to be about 10 inches long. You might need a bigger bowl!

Based on the snail's names, I guessing Fish--but since some folks have already guessed that...I'll say Mr. Fish! Happy Labor day weekend!

I'm guessing PEZ. The Spanish word for a fish in water.

NO guess from me since I saw the answer in a more recent post, but I wanted to share with you that my little Lily got a goldfish from the Carnival 3 years ago...and it is STILL Alive! Oswald has impressed us all! I didn't think he would survive the trip home, my daughter took on the character of the little girl in Finding Nemo. Resiliant little guy...

I am not going to guess either... but also wanted to share that "Pearl" also a carnival fish like Heather's comment above mine is now 8yrs old! Pretty amazing dont' you think?!
