Big Rock Candy Mountain

My favorite thing to do at the end of the day is to cozy up in bed and listen over the monitor to Rich and Alfredo getting ready for bed. They sing and read books and tell jokes. And it is just the sweetest thing. Last night I listened in amazement to Alfredo singing this whole song to Rich. We made a movie of it to share (he sings really softly in parts) I hope you like it...

Awwww! That is a song I have been singing to Noodlebug since he was born! I think one of my happiest moments as a mom was when he started singing songs. It is a great joy!!

Oh Dear Amy!
I love what you said ... "that is so beautiful". What a good memory Alfredo has. I wish that I still had the mmm may have been a colored vinyl, of The Big Rock Candy Mountain. My mom picked it up for us at a garage sale and we loved singing it and dancing around happily while it played. I think it was an old Tex Ritter recording... whom ever sang it for us had a nice cowboy twang.
My heart goes out to your new family!
With Kindness,
Mary

That's one of my favorite songs, and I have to say that Alfredo's rendition is the best I've ever heard! What a good memory he has for someone his age....that's not an easy song to memorize.
