more of the office

I've spent the morning just sitting in my newly cleaned and organized office, mostly just catching up. I'm really enjoying it.

The pouf balls, for those who asked, are from Martha's line at Michael's. They are the same kind of big flowers that we all made in the third grade from tissue paper...but these are extra special because 1. the colors are so yummy 2. the tissue is scalloped and pinked making them petal perfect!

Here's the office with the doors shut...I took the sheer curtains that I'd had on the french doors off. I like the way the room glows through the doors.
I hung this fun wire hot balloon that my friend Linda gave me over the desk. We hung this cabinet last night. I don't know yet what I'll do with that towel bar. I don't use this room for wrapping or crafting...it's strictly paperwork and computer stuff. Any ideas?
This picture is a little dark but I wanted to show you the "lamp" I'd made. The birds are from Ikea...dirt cheap (maybe $14). My friend Irene gave me the bridge lamp base for another project (that it didn't end up working for). I combined the two for a fun floor lamp. I think I'll add dangles with the birds...it reminds me of a glowing version of Alicia's bird cagelets. Remember those?

Speaking of Alicia, I'm beside myself with sadness for her and Andy. Her sweet pup Audrey suddenly passed this week. It's just too sad for words. She's on my mind today.

I am working on a project in the craft room that I used a dowel rod for and I bought S hooks at the hardware store, painted them a bronze color hung them on the dowel for holding things like sissors and rotary cutters etc, but lots of different things can hang from them-like baskets :). Hope this helps.

Amy,

Martha also has the tissue paper pom-pom directions on her website for those that want to make to use whatever tissue paper they have lying around. I made teeny tiny ones this spring, and I love them!

Amy dear,

I have been thinking of Alicia today, too.......for the empty dowel, what do you think of hanging some magazines (something business-inspiring like Country Living's March issue or M.E.'s Home Companion) or a vintage ladies magazine? It might give the room a nice "public library" feel. Or perhaps the Wall Street Journal? : )

Amy, did you recently purchase those darling birdy lights from IKEA? The IKEA store in Portland just opened this month and even though it takes me an hour to get there I've been three times already, and I didn't see those darling birds. I have another trip planned in the next few weeks so I'll make an extra effort to scout out and watch for the birds. Love, love, love your blog by the way!
