Grandma Harper

Rich's grandmother passed away this morning. She was 92 and has been suffering from dementia for years. It was so sad to see her...she was always so confused.

But my favorite story about Grandma was when she got a new roommate at the nursing home a few years ago. The newbie liked to watch television. Grandma did not. There was a tussle...Grandma would turn off the tv. Newbie would turn it back on. Finally, without a word, Grandma took out her scissors and cut the cord to the then "on" television. Needless to say, gutsy Grandma enjoyed a single room from then on.

We don't have details yet about the funeral but we'll be travelling to Michigan later this week. Meanwhile, I'm hustling to get the next update in place and ready to publish before we leave. The sun refuses to shine today so I'm hoping for a sunny day tomorrow.

Amy, I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope someone tells that story at the funeral. Funny stories are always such a welcome relief thru the tears and are a wonderful way to remember her fiesty spirit. :)

so sorry for your family's loss. 92, wow! what a wonderful, long life! i live in michigan, and I don't think the weather is to be too rotten over the next week. If you would have come a week ago, that would have been a different story. safe travels to you!!!

I'm very sorry for your loss. Sounds like Grandma rocked! We just lost Doug's dad on the 12th. Two years ago on Dec.5th, we lost my Granma. It is tough, but especially at Christmas time.

So sorry to read about Grandma.I'm still smiling at her cutting the cord with the scissors. No doubt she is giving the angels a run for their money up there. Wishing you and your family peace at this time and joy in the new year. Warmly, Cathy

So sorry for your loss. My husband also lost his Grannie over Christmas, our children's last great grandparent.
I love that Rich's Grandma was a determined lady until the end. I chuckled with her cutting the cord on the TV. Thanks for sharing.
