jonsing

When you give something up for Lent, you're supposed to be real cool about it. You don't brag or complain or talk about it at all. You just graciously make the sacrifice to mirror the ultimate sacrifice that was made for you. You grin and bear it.

That said...

I'm seriously jonsing for a Coca-Cola. Seriously. Deliriously. I nearly have the shakes from it.

Okay...I'm ready to go on with my day and suck it up and do this thing.

p.s. Did I mention that I gave up ALL sodas...not just Coca-Cola? Oh man is this hard. Okay...back to it. For real this time. Silent enduring sacrifice. Tiny insignificant sacrifice. I can do it.

candy necklace making kit

I was so happy to find this at Michael's...we couldn't wait to make them today.

I put the candy beads in a mini muffin tin lined with bon-bon wrappers. Alfredo helped sort them.

We started out threading them with just the string but it is easily frayed. I found a blunt tapestry needle with a large eye and that seemed to be easier for him to use. After about 20 beads he stopped and said "You know, making candy necklaces is making me tired!" So I helped a little more to speed it along and before you knew it, we had a candy necklace.

Best of all, the kit makes 8 necklaces. We have 7 more to make!

rabbit, rabbit

I'm so excited that March is here...my favorite month of the whole year. Spring is right around the corner and pretty soon the big thaw will happen and birds and flowers will reappear. It's such magic.

Every day this month I will celebrate my birthday, which I consider my own personal holiday. I'm kicking off the celebration with two sweet buys from the dollar spot at Michael's.

Have you seen these?
Ingenious paper placemats by Mary! Aren't they delightful? You get 6 for a dollar!

And look at these fun felt coasters. I don't know yet what I'll do with them but I really love the pattern.
I stitched my first square and posted it over at the 39 squares blog...It's a festive little bluebird! Check out the blogs listed on the side to check out all the first squares...
