Stitch Craft Create!

Guess what! I'm in this magazine!

I met Shannon Miller & Courtney Kyle at The Creative Connection last year. (We shared a table in Leslie's class) When they asked me to submit a project for their magazine, I was thrilled and honored.

I submitted a project based on the very popular craft suitcase I outfitted last year...

Isn't it sweet? It's the same idea as the one I made last year, only I show you an easier way to magnitize the panel for the circle containers. Plus, I share lots of tips and tricks for crafting on the go, including how to pack for a crafting event.

Stitch, Craft and Create also included a very nice profile of me. It makes me sound better than I am, but I'll take it!

Look for the Summer issue of Stitch, Craft and Create at your favorite magazine stand. And if they don't have it, tell them they should! You can also find it online here.

I was delighted to find my super sweet friends Jennifer Paganelli and Princess Lasertron in this issue too!

Feeling lucky today? Leave a comment and share a crafting-on-the-go tip and you'll enter to win a copy of the Summer issue of Stitch, Craft and Create! I'll pick a winner Monday, May 14 at 5:00pm EST. (and announce the winner shortly thereafter)

Want to improve your odds? Head on over to their blog to enter the chance to win 1 of the 3 copies they are giving away!

I always take a little tin (international delight coffee) on road trips, filled with small precut circles, thread, needle and small scissors. With those small circles (used a baby bottle lid for the template) I am making lots and lots of little yoyo's, they end of the size of a dime. Someday they will be the cutest little wall hanging.

Congratulations on being published! How fun for you!! Love that darling craft case and need to do something like that.

I don't have any great ideas for crafting on the go. I just always have something in a bag that I am working on so I can throw it in the car when I know I have a bit of time.

Congratulations on the being in the publication! Loved the project the first time you did it, I'm sure I'll love the new revised version.

I *always* have a portable kitting project in a pretty bag, ready to grab and go. A tiny snack-size bag tucked inside isn't as pretty, but it is key: it holds embroidery scissors, stitch markers, and tapestry needles for finishing projects. I keep it in the baggie so I can see what's in it and can pop it into whichever bag I want to take.

I'm like some of the other ladies... If I need a craft diversion on-the-go, I just always take a crochet project. There's always one going in my bag, and I can pick-up where I left off. I'm looking forward to checking out this magazine! It looks beautiful.

I have a craft room from http://roomstogrowusa.web12.hubspot.com/hobbyrooom/, and I have a little corner for my on the go projects so that I don't have to spend time looking for everything to take.

Ten years ago when my kids needed supervision at the swimming pool, I stitched up a little sewing satchel from vintage (but stained) table linens that my grandmother had embroidered. As I hand sewed little dolly clothes and faces, I was able to keep a watchful eye on my kiddos and have my tools at hand.

the tip i would give a travelling crafter who wants to bead on the go is to pack a small slim roll of double sided tape, you can tear a small piece off and wrap it round your finger, which can be dipped into the colour beads you are using and the beads will stick, so you can close the pot up quick and no beads will spill. when you want to add a bead to your thread, just pop the needle through a hole in the bead which is stuck to your finger and lift it off. This also makes threading a small bead onto a needle a lot easier when travelling and saves a lot of spilt and lost beads! Hope this helps! xxx

This looks like a fantastic issue!! Thanks for the chance to win it.

My crafting-on-the-go tip... is you can never be too prepared. An extra set of needles, an extra baggie and backup supplies always come in handy so I don't have to go searching for a craft shop when I'm on the road!

I always have my Moleskine & a Micron pen in my bag. Add a glue stick, some watercolor pencils and found papers and I can entertain myself for hours. If I have nothing else I can sketch and work on ideas for my next project. Congratulations on the article.

I have a Memory Mate bag that I now use for my embroidery on the run. Vanishing ink and chalk pencils in the pen pocket, several pre-drawn tea towels and pre-printed samplers in the envelope insert pages, and lots of printed ideas and stitch guides for inspiration and instruction. In the front pockets, I have converted an old VHS tape holder to a portable stitch station, with threads, small scissors, needles, etc. Love your cute suitcase! Thanks for the opportunity to win an issue of this magazine!!

I could really use your article. I might be living out of a hotel for a few weeks. Super time to get some crafting done! I've been traveling with a pouch containing a small Strathmore Visual Journal, a tin of watercolor crayons, water brush and micron pens, pencil and blending stump for creating zentangles on a plane. Crochet is good for airplane rides too. Love the suitcase!

Oooh! SC&C Mag looks enticing! Your suitcase is dreamy. I always have a postcard size stack of watercolor paper and a wee "field" watercolor set in my glovebox... along with a few snippets of seam binding, foldable scissors, tape and stapler! - Amy Bauer amy.bauer416@gmail.com

I love your suitcase idea, and I wish I had a good reason to make one for myself!

I like to keep little cross stitch kits in ziploc bags for travel. Cross stitch is not my favorite, but it is more portable and doable-in-a-moving-vehicle than my mixed media, embroidery, or beading projects. Plus the kits include all the supplies, so I don't have to worry about whether I've forgotten anything.
