my birthday is coming!

Maybe you remember that I like to celebrate my birthday all month long? I've noticed that lots of other bloggers like to do the same. It's something I encourage everyone to try at least once. And if not this year, my friend, then when?

I've gotten just a little bit of grief from people who don't understand what I mean by this. I don't require that everyone celebrate with me...this is just something I do for myself. And have for as long as I can remember. I really love my birthday, my own personal holiday...and it's a time to celebrate the year before and anticipate the year that's coming.

Later this month, just a couple of days before Easter, I will turn 37. And I'm very excited about it. It's amazing to me that I've really been around for nearly 40 years. How can that be true? How?

On an unrelated note, I have an idea of something funny to do for Baby. He loves balloons more than anyone I've ever seen. I mean, just walking through the grocery store and seeing them makes him squeal loud enough to make other shoppers whip their heads around to look. He squeals and claps his hands and his eyes sparkle and dance. My idea is to surprise him some day by tying balloons all around his crib while he naps. I can just imagine how happy he'll be to see that!

The other day when he was napping I heard some funny noises over the monitor. I went in to check on him and found him sitting up and flipping through a book. Oh good gracious, am I ever in love with this little boy!

Just be sure they are not latex balloons as they are the number one choking hazard for littles...use those mylar ones...love you for loving that little guy!

My birthday just keeps dragging on and on, as well, and I LOVE it. :) Love the idea of surprising Baby with balloons, as well. I do that for my girls on their birthday morning...they wake up to pink balloons and they love it! Happy Almost Birthday, Amy!

In our family we have birthday weeks. I too love every minute of the celebration of MY birth. I get you!!

Sitting up and flipping through a book... how adorable. That's one of the best gifts you can give him... the love of books. Soooo important to his life.

I am ALL about month long birthday celebrations!
As a baby and toddler my oldest son loved balloons too. Whenever we were in a store that had some blown up, I would grab one just so he would have something to play with while I shopped...Of course I rarely bought one to take home, he just enjoyed them while we browsed.

unsolicited warnings on babies and ballons:
It's a love/hate relationship. They're lovely and fun and and total happiness...until they pop. Twice , I've had friends give their littles balloons that have popped in the child's face...One resulted in a black eye...The other, black eyes, a ruptured cornea in one and near blindness.
Please Amy...use caution!

YAY for March babies!!!!!
I love the month-long celebration idea, Amy! I vote for swishy party dresses and balloons and cupcakes and prettily-wrapped gifties for all....

Your love for baby is so sweet to see.. it's ovious that your heart is as big as all outdoors. . tie the balloons to a newly budding tree in your front yard.. what a wonderful gift for him to look at each day from a safe distance.

I hope it is a fun fun birthday month! I have to echo the balloon warnings- mylar is best. Balloons are just too big a choking hazzard. Which sucks, by the way, because what is more festive and cheery than a balloon?

I agree with you, Amy. I'm a March birthday girl, too, and I love to celebrate all month long!

Happy almost birthday, Amy! I think it's great that you celebrate for the whole month! I, too, try to do as much celebrating as possible when my day comes around...although it seems to be coming 'round much faster these days! You don't want to know how old I am...(ahem!) (The good news is that I still act like a 12 year old.)
Glad you got the word on balloons...hot dogs, too...nothing smaller than a quarter. I'm sure you'll find other ways for him to enjoy balloons from a distance.
Hugs,
Laurie

Great ideas on the balloons. On my daughter's third birthday, we filled her bedroom with balloons, so when she woke up they were all over the place.

It's so cute reading your stories about Baby. It's the little stories that make parenthood so wonderful. He is just so lucky to have you.

I am another month-long birthday gal. I fly the birthday flag all month long for each member of my family. When the kids were younger I always filled their rooms with balloons the night before their birthday (blow-up ones) so that when they woke up they were delighted that they had a visit from the "birthday fairy".

My husband turns 50 on Memorial Day. I have a gift in mind as well as a party, but i would love to give him a little something everyday starting May 1st. Any creative ideas? He deserves a year long birthday!
