The thing about accidents is that they happen without warning. It's part of their nature to come unannounced. Like a punch in the gut, we're left stunned and gasping, with questions that have no answers.
Early yesterday morning, my cousin Kenny was killed in a car accident. He was 59. They say that he drifted off into another lane and, when he saw a truck coming his way, overcorrected. His car went off the road and he died instantly.
The weight of it all is only starting to settle in.
He'd only just recently, in the last decade, found his true love. He and she were embarking a second life, complete with new children and grandchildren. He lived, breathed, and loved horses. And they said that he had such a way with them. He could tame the wildest. I'll remember always his wink when he talked about his horses. I think he was closer to them than any two-legged being.
