pretty pumpkins

So, it's not like I don't have a million and one things to do to get ready for our guests next week. But last night I decided that I needed to make those pumpkins from Olive Juice's kit.

And I'm so glad I did.

Alfredo was my big helper, filling each empty pumpkin with beans. It's amazing how they came alive as they plumped up. We used 10 bags of beans for these 5 pumpkins. 4 of these are from the kit and one is made using a scrap of velveteen I found. And when I was at the pumpkin patch the other day, I looked down to see a whole bunch of pumpkin stems. I asked someone if I could have them and the look on her face was priceless. (Preserved stems came with the kit but I needed one more the extra that I made)

I relocated the Halloween tree and put these beauties in the wheelbarrow instead. Aren't they luscious?

Meanwhile, I better get cleaning. Can you spot the toy car under the sofa? They are everywhere!

I had to laugh at your experience at the pumpkin patch. Artists see potential everywhere!

So beautiful! How are the stems attached? Glue?

What lovely, luscious colors! I may have to make some myself. Do you know how to preserve the stems?

And, of course, the car is there. Aren't they always?

Love the way the colors look in your living room, Amy! Kim (Olive Juice) and I were just chatting on Facebook about these and my 'Sweet Sweater Pumpkins'. Cousins! ;0)

I love the colors you chose! I got my kit in the mail but I haven't put them together yet. Any tips? I have to giggle because I picked up a handful of extra stems when we were at the pumpkin patch on Monday! I thought maybe I might want to make a few more. :)

I love them! I went to the site and they were sold out. They are darling! Do you know how to preserve the stems? They would be such sweet gifts for friends. Thanks for posting them.

Those are so gorgeous! I went to get some, but she was sold out. We're starting a new tradition of having Thanksgiving at home and I need some Fall/Thanksgiving decorations!
Oh, and I love the car under the sofa. I trip over them all the time. I've embraced them as part of the decor!

They are! I spied that kit on Olive Juice and just about went for it and I'm sorry that I didn't. I wonder how she so cleverly preserved those stems? Do they look different than the real stem you used?

I am so in love with these pumpkins and missed them last year. Of course, the kits were not available this year either.... I've been stalking Olive Juice! I am just going to attempt to give them a go myself. Is the velvet they used a soft material with a lot of drape?
