stitch-along

Another thing I've made for Market Soiree (see how busy I've been?)

I hesitate to call these kits because they don't include detailed stitching instructions. But they do have everything you need to make a mini-sampler, including a tiny embroidery hoop, fabric with grid, needle, floss, and teeny tiny scissors all packaged sweetly in a 4" round tin. Oh, and best of all, an itty bitty book showing each square of the sampler.

I only made 4 of these to see how they do. I'll be making more for sale on etsy. What do you think? Do you want one?

These are really cute. I love the idea of everything in there to just get started. No having to go and buy it all individually. This would make a great gift for someone who just wants to get started.

I have followed your blog but never commented. In fact, I read your blog like a book--what a wonderful story you have!
I fell madly in love with your embroidery sampler. It even inspired me to learn how to embroider!
You MUST MUST sell these on etsy. Count me in!

Most emphatically, YES! I covet your sampler and use it as my computer's sleep screen. I would adore one of my own even if I have to make it myself.

i'm all over anything that is a KIT lately. especially with a toddler, it simply makes creativity easier if EVERYTHING is right where i need it to be!! i was actually thinking of "mama amy" and alfredo yesterday at big lots of all places. you know those martha stewart kits they sell at michaels? for things like puppets, frames, cards, paper flowers, etc? they had all sorts of sets for 2 dollars each. some where retail of up to 20 dollars!!! anyhow-- the puppets in particular made me think of you guys because they would make great "following direction" activities. you might want to call ahead if you do go, because these have been available a long time...my store still had a good selection- i sure bought a ton!

Hi! My name is erica. Would you be my friend? said...

That's adorable! I absolutely love it! love, love, love! They're certain to sell, even if just to sit on a shelf and be cute...

Oh yes, please. Your blog on your sampler has inspired me to teach my niece to embroider -- I have supplies I haven't touched since college -- and we're going to do some small ones for her to give to her mom and the grandmas for Christmas. I think having a kit to start with would really get her inspired to do our winter-themed versions for gift giving.

As soon as I saw one I wanted one, and I have a drawer full of embroidery floss, but the idea of having everything in one sweet little tin might get me started stitching again. Sweet, sweet!

Absolutely make them for etsy -- grand idea!

In fact, your tiny embroidery was what got me started following your blog back in June (that and the adorable Alfredo!) A little picture of little pictures is such a sweet idea...

Hi Amy

Love the kit idea - have you ever thought of doing patterns?? I love your little drawings, murals etc. and they would lend themselves to patterns Here is one example

http://www.flickr.com/photos/gertvr/3847966691/

but you could also do them as PDFs and send them electronically.

Allsorts has embroidery patterns set up like this.

Just a thought
