just a thought...

My sister's husband was in an accident on Tuesday night. He seems to be doing okay and was even released from the hospital today. But what a scare it was! He has a fractured skull (and had bleeding in his brain) along with broken bones in his face and hand. We are praising the Lord for carrying him through this recovery so quickly. It may be a long recovery still ahead but he's going to be just fine.

The thing I keep thinking is that accidents like his happen on the most ordinary of days. They can happen to anyone at anytime. It doesn't mean that we should necessarily live our lives paralyzed under a cloud of caution. Perhaps instead let's strive to have such an appreciation of the urgency and preciousness of today. I hope I don't sound like I'm giving a soap box sermon. We all live such busy lives and sometimes we need to be reminded and redirected just a bit.

Happy weekend everybody!

If only more people would live what you preach! It's frightening that in the blink of an eye everything can be taken away...something our family experienced 5 years ago when our daughter was senselessly murdered. By the way...today is 'National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims' here in the US. I guess I better get off of your soap box and give it back to you. Thanks for those important words!

Amy, Im relieved for your sister and whole family that your BIL is going to be OK! What a major scare indeed! It's unfortunate situations like this is bit of a "wake up call" to us all to slow down and live and appreciate today. I will keep your BIL in my prayers! Hugs to you all! XO,Jenn

Hi Amy,
I am also thankful he will be ok with time and love.
I agree we all are so busy, life keeps pushing us but we can slow down...then we can hear the Lord better. Sometimes he speaks in a child's smile or hug. Right Amy :)

Just saw pictures of you and others in California! What fun!!!

Mary

Oh my goodness! I will pray for his recovery! I had such a moment this summer with my father, and it makes you stop in your tracks and remember what is really important and that we have this moment and we must live it to its fullest!!

So true. I tried to live by the motto, "Live in the Moment." I am glad he is feeling better.

I'm genuinely happy that he is ok...accidents have a way of unsettling you. A couple of years ago I was in a horrible accident with my college kids. I fussed at the Lord and reminded him I prayed every day for their safety....He spoke softly to me that day and reminded me that we were all ok.
I remember a year ago...when you got your little guy and how happy you were. It was a moving post. I'm happy for you!
Blessings,
Debbie

Great post, Amy. My father was killed when he was walking across the street on his way to work and hit by a courier van. We used his funeral as an opportunity to remind everyone that your loved ones can be taken from you in an instant so we all need to tell each other "I love you" every single day and value our time together.
