two posts in one day??!

I'm pretty pleased with how this little project came together. It was cheap, fast and easy. I bought 4 magnetic dry erase boards from Walmart (I think they were just $7 each!) I attached them to a wall in the kitchen low enough for Baby to reach them both sitting and after he pulls himself up. Then, here's the best part, I bought a bunch of those painted wood shapes from Michael's. I attached adhesive magnetic strips to the back of each one. Now Baby can have fun rearranging and practicing his animal noises (You should hear his lion) Maybe we can tell him stories too using it like those felt boards of yesterday.

I had an email recently asking to see how the cupboard we bought for the television looked in the family room. I'm having fun finding fun toys and things to go on top of the furniture...I'd love to buy the big hot dog sign from my friends at The Cottage. At any rate, I need to add things to make it work better.

And tell me, how much fun is that tent? I bought it last year (or the year before?)from Restoration Hardware after it was marked way down post-holidays. I can't remember how much it was but it was a bargain. It's a fun addition to the family room, at least while Baby is here.

So, two posts in one day?! Can you believe it? Hopefully this good start to the week will mean more blogging this week.

my birthday is coming!

Maybe you remember that I like to celebrate my birthday all month long? I've noticed that lots of other bloggers like to do the same. It's something I encourage everyone to try at least once. And if not this year, my friend, then when?

I've gotten just a little bit of grief from people who don't understand what I mean by this. I don't require that everyone celebrate with me...this is just something I do for myself. And have for as long as I can remember. I really love my birthday, my own personal holiday...and it's a time to celebrate the year before and anticipate the year that's coming.

Later this month, just a couple of days before Easter, I will turn 37. And I'm very excited about it. It's amazing to me that I've really been around for nearly 40 years. How can that be true? How?

On an unrelated note, I have an idea of something funny to do for Baby. He loves balloons more than anyone I've ever seen. I mean, just walking through the grocery store and seeing them makes him squeal loud enough to make other shoppers whip their heads around to look. He squeals and claps his hands and his eyes sparkle and dance. My idea is to surprise him some day by tying balloons all around his crib while he naps. I can just imagine how happy he'll be to see that!

The other day when he was napping I heard some funny noises over the monitor. I went in to check on him and found him sitting up and flipping through a book. Oh good gracious, am I ever in love with this little boy!

an afternoon off...

Rich took Baby away for the afternoon to visit family. Ahhh...an afternoon off. Oh, I can think of a million and one things to do to fill these sweet hours. Not the least of which is an afternoon nap. I'd also like to make myself a plate of cheeses and crackers and pickles and other delights to sample leisurely while I take in a beautiful movie. Ahh, yes. That's how I would spend this afternoon if I had my druthers.

Unfortunately, I don't.

I have to go now and work on updating my poor neglected books. This is my least favorite thing in the whole wide world. I would rather shovel poop with a spoon. Seriously.

I'm cheating right this moment by blogging instead of organizing the mountain of papers and statements and invoices. And I'm this close to saying "forget it!" because there is a scented trash bag lining the trash bin in here and I think it'll give me a headache soon. That, and these dangblasted numbers.
